Definition

For coverage purposes, metro Los Angeles is Los Angeles, CA together with every incorporated community within 87 miles that is closer to Los Angeles than to any other metro anchor — 101 communities and about 10,466,310 people beyond the core city. Climate

Between October and April the Los Angeles area averages an overnight low of 49.8°F and reaches 37°F at its coldest, with 41 days below 45°F — about 1.3 months. A cat’s thermoneutral zone starts around 86°F against a typical indoor 64–72°F, so those are the months an indoor cat here is actively hunting for a heat source.
